Photo for Midnight Still Life: Time Watching Back

Some nights, the whole room goes quiet in a way that feels older than electricity. 🕯️ I set this little scene up after midnight — candle trembling, pocket watch resting like it knows secrets, dried rose holding on to the last memory of colour — and suddenly it felt less like a photo and more like a conversation.
The skull is the obvious thing, yes. Mortality staring straight at you with no manners. But the watch? That is the real troublemaker for me. Tick, tick, tick… reminding us that every lime, every song, every market morning, every elder’s story, every old record spinning in a back room is borrowed time. We don’t own any of it. We just get to hold it warm for a while. ⏳
Maybe that’s why I keep chasing these stories across Trinidad — from old chutney rhythms to village rituals to the little corners people pass without seeing. Preservation is not just nostalgia. It’s resistance. It’s love with a deadline.
Tonight’s mood is dark, yes, but not hopeless. More like a gentle warning from the shadows: pay attention, nah. Life passing. Beauty drying. Flame flickering. Still, while it burns, it burns bright. 🌹
