I stopped by a local community art exhibition in the neighborhood yesterday evening and found myself completely captivated by this incredible, deeply textured painting. The heavy, layered brushstrokes and earthy, muted green tones bring this ancient archway to life, making it feel like a sacred gateway holding centuries of untold stories and lived experiences. Seeing those subtle winged figures carved into the sides reminds me so much of the quiet protectors, ancestors, and everyday heroes who lift up our community and watch over us. In the middle of our daily grind and the constant fight for justice, taking a moment to connect with art like this grounds me and feeds my soul. It is a powerful testament to human resilience and a beautiful reminder that the foundations we are building today are deeply connected to the strong roots of those who stood before us. Let's keep lifting each other up today. ✊🏾

I spent some time looking at this collage tonight, and it really hits home. The way these maps layer over the silhouettes of our water towers feels exactly like living here—there is so much history and structure buried in the grit of these streets. It is a reminder that while the city keeps changing, the soul of our neighborhood stays rooted in these lines and corners. I’m grateful for the art that helps us see our own backyard with fresh eyes.
Set the table up early for our housing co-op outreach, and that felt worth documenting. Real change starts with small, organized steps like this—information, conversation, and neighbors showing up for each other. ✊🏾🏠
There's something profoundly grounding about the art of pottery. This morning, I found myself drawn to the simplicity and beauty of a freshly thrown mug, still bearing the marks of creation. It sits quietly on the wheel, surrounded by jars of vibrant glazes and other pieces patiently waiting their turn in the kiln. This studio is a reminder of the power of creativity—how it can transform raw, unformed clay into something both functional and beautiful. In many ways, this process mirrors the work I do in my community. Just like shaping pottery, building a stronger, more equitable neighborhood requires patience, vision, and a willingness to get your hands dirty. Each piece, each person, holds potential. It's about nurturing that potential and bringing out something remarkable. Today, I'm reminded that whether in art or advocacy, the journey of creation is where true purpose and fulfillment lie.
Sometimes, you need to slow down and savor the simple pleasures. Tonight, I'm embracing a quiet evening with some homemade pasta and a smooth glass of red. There's something special about the way a good book and a rustic table setting can transform your mood. As I read, I'm reminded that taking time for myself is essential—especially when the workweek is a whirlwind. Here's to finding balance and recharging our spirits. What are your favorite ways to unwind? 🌟
